Easy 1 Day Detox

Here is Frederic Patenaude’s easy, 1 Day Detox anyone can safely follow, once a week or so:
BREAKFAST:
Either skip breakfast, or make a light smoothie consisting of some fruit and greens.
For example:
* 3-4 bananas
* 1-2 cups of sweet fruit (mango, papaya, pear, apple, etc.)
* 2 cups of baby spinach
* water
Blend together
LUNCH:
Same as breakfast, or have a fruit meal of one or two types of fruit. (Eaten whole or as a smoothie.) For example: papaya and banana, blended together or eaten together.
AFTERNOON SNACK:
Make another green smoothie. Here’s one of my favorites:
* 3-4 bananas
* 1 ½ cups of frozen blueberries
* 2 cups of spinach or romaine lettuce or other greens (non-bitter)
Blend with water!

What are the Benefits of Juicing for Detox?
Fresh fruit and vegetable juices provide an abundance of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytochemicals and other essential substances essential to cleansing and healing the body. What about the lack of fiber?
You may see arguments against juicing for detox because it leaves the pulp or fiber behind. After all fiber has many important functions – providing roughage and bulk that prevents constipation, feeding the good bowel bacteria, keeping you feeling fuller for longer and slowing down the release of glucose into the body keeping your blood glucose level stable are just a few.

Wow! Sounds like a miracle to me. I was intrigued to know how a few capsules filled with an extract of Acai Berries (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) could do all this or is it just another elaborate scam? What is it about this little berry that has suddenly got the media into a frenzy?
Here are some facts:
The Acai Berry grows in the rainforests of the Amazon and has been known for it’s health benefits by the local people for thousand of years. The berries are said to contain twice as many antioxidants as blueberries, 10 times more than red grapes, are rich is fiber, minerals and omega 6 and 9 fatty acids.

Is blending fruit & vegetables better than juicing for detox?
Since the green smoothie revolution some people are asking if blending is better than fruit and vegetable juicing for detox. When you juice fruit or vegetables you extract the juice from the produce leaving a lot of pulp behind. Unless you add this to other dishes you lose the health benefits of the fiber and possibly some other nutrients like flavanoids and anthocyanins. With blending on the other hand you use the whole fruit or vegetable. So which is best for detox?
Fresh fruit and vegetable juicing has been used as part of detox regimes for many years. Proponents argue that the fresh raw juices without the fiber are easy for the body to digest. The vitamins, minerals and other nutrients released from the produce are easily absorbed. In cases of cancer and serious illness the person can consume many more nutrients through juices than he/she can by eating whole fruit and vegetables.
Force out toxins
By flooding the body with these concentrated nutrients it is believed that toxins are forced out of the cells and tissues and damaged tissue is repaired. People with poor digestion or bowel problems like Ulcerative Colitis get all the nutrients without the added digestive burden or irritation of the fiber. Unless you are juice fasting the high intake of whole fruit and vegetables in detox diets provides enough fiber to make up for that lost in the juicing.
