High concentrations are also found in celery, cabbage, fennel and leafy green vegetables such as spinach and some lettuce.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why people with high blood pressure who start vegetable juicing find their blood pressure usually normalizes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beet Detox<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beets and the green beet tops are good for the liver too. Eat them both raw and cooked.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some beet recipes for you to try.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4049\" title=\"BeetSalad\" src=\"https:\/\/thedetoxspecialist.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/BeetSalad1.jpg\" alt=\"beet detox\" width=\"240\" height=\"359\" \/>Tangy Beet Salad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Serves 2 -3<\/p>\n<p>300g\/10 oz cooked beets, peeled<br \/>\n1 onion, finey chopped<br \/>\n1 tbsp fresh horseradish<br \/>\n2 -3 Tbsp Virgin Olive oil<br \/>\n1 -2 tbsp apple cider vinegar<br \/>\n2 tbsp parsley, chopped<br \/>\nCeltic or Himalyan Salt to taste<br \/>\nBlack pepper<\/p>\n<p>Grate beets into a bowl and add horseradish and onion.<br \/>\nMix the oil and vinegar, a little salt and pepper to make a dressing.<br \/>\nPour over the beets, add parsley and mix well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oven Cooked Beets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I cringe when I see recipes for beets roasted in olive oil at very high oven temperatures. Although olive oil can be used for cooking heating it to temeratures above 180C (350F) can damage the fatty acids and make it unhealthy.<\/p>\n<p>To cook without oil you simply put them a roasting tin or casserole dish with a splash of water, cover with foil or a lid and put in an oven preheated to about 190 C (375F)\u00a0 for 45 min to 1 hr depending on the size.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speedy Beet Soup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Serves 4 &#8211; 6<\/p>\n<p>3 tbsp olive oil<br \/>\n3 medium beet, grated<br \/>\n1 large carrot, grated<br \/>\n1 large onion, finely chopped<br \/>\n1 leek, cut into fine strips<br \/>\n1 clove garlic, crushed<br \/>\n1 liter\/1\u00be pints vegetable stock<br \/>\n2 tsp fresh thyme<br \/>\nCeltic or Himalayan salt<br \/>\nBlack pepper<br \/>\n2 tbsp natural yogurt ( optional)<\/p>\n<p>Heat oil in pan and saute vegetables and garlic for 2 -3 minutes .<br \/>\nAdd stock, bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes.<br \/>\nAdd thyme and cook for a further 5 minutes or until vegetables are soft.<br \/>\nSeason to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.<br \/>\nStir in yogurt before serving if using.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mrs Erdmann&#8217;s Raw Beet Salad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Quite a few years ago when I went to some of the late Dr Robert Erdmann&#8217;s talks Mrs Erdmann provided us with\u00a0 wonderful healthy lunches.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s her recipe for Raw Beet Salad<\/p>\n<p>3 &#8211; 4 medium raw beets<br \/>\n2 tbsp sesame oil<br \/>\n2 tbsp soy sauce (I prefer to use low sodium tamari)<br \/>\n1 tbsp apple cider vinegar<br \/>\n2 cloves galic put through garlic press<\/p>\n<p>Grate beets using fine grater on food processor or grate by hand.<br \/>\nMix other ingredients together and allow to stand for several hours before dressing beets with it.<br \/>\nCan be used immediately if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Try adding a little grated ginger root and sweeten with a little maple syrup if you like.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4051\" title=\"BeetJuice\" src=\"https:\/\/thedetoxspecialist.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/BeetJuice.jpg\" alt=\"Beet Juice\" width=\"282\" height=\"400\" \/>Blushing Beet Detox Juice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Makes approx 20 oz juice depending on the efficiency of your juicer and the produce.<\/p>\n<p>Beet juice on it&#8217;s own is very concentrated and some people don&#8217;t like its earthy taste so it&#8217;s best to mix it with other vegetable juices. Raw beets are low\u00a0 on the glycemic index so do not usually increase blood glucose.<\/p>\n<p>2 raw beets with green leaves<br \/>\n2 medium carrots<br \/>\n1\/2 an apple<br \/>\n1\/2 a small cucumber<br \/>\n1 celery stalks<br \/>\n1 thumb size piece of fresh ginger<\/p>\n<p>Put all ingredients through a juicer.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>Do you drink beet juice to detox or to lower your blod pressure?
