You must have had bacon and eggs a countless number of times for breakfast. Bacon and eggs are good, but having same things, again and again, every day become boring, right? I’m sure you’ll agree with me upon this.
So, what we are going to do in this post is, we will discuss a new recipe, which has a vegetable in the main role (no, don’t make faces now). I know you don’t like eating vegetables, but trust me, when this recipe gets ready, you are going to dive into it.
The name of the recipe is ‘Caramelized Cauliflower Frittata’. I don’t know about you, but I find the recipe name very exotic. It makes me think as if the Queen of the UK also had this dish multiple times. It sounds so royal to me. You must try this recipe for a change because bacon and eggs aren’t going anywhere, so you can have them any other day.
The best part about this recipe is that you can customize it as per your understanding about the flavors. But, let’s just discuss the original recipe as I’m sure you are curious to know how this cauliflower recipe is going to taste like.
Step 1: You need to preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Take a red copper pan and heat ¼ cup Avocado oil in it. Now, add cauliflower florets into the pan and sprinkle salt as per your taste. Cook cauliflower florets on high heat and keep tossing them in between until they get brown from all sides.
Step 2: Try to taste one of the cauliflower florets to check whether they have been properly cooked or not. If they are cooked, then take them out of the red copper pan and put them on the plate. Take an onion and cut its slices. Put the onion slices into the pan, add some butter to the onions with a big pinch of salt.
Step 3: Onions need to be cooked on low flame. While onions get cooked, you can do several other tasks to prepare the recipe. The flavor in onions is going to come out as they are being cooked on low heat for a long time. Cook onions for 40-45 minutes. In the meantime, you can prepare a mixture of eggs, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. You have to take six eggs for this, crack the eggs, beat them together with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Also, grate some cheddar cheese. You need a cup of grated cheddar cheese, which we will use later on.
NOTE: The cheddar cheese we are using in the recipe is made up of coconut oil, water, salt, vegan flavors and b-carotene.
Step 4: I think you can make this mixture in 5 minutes, so you still have time because the onions are still on the stove. When onions become golden brown, you will add cauliflower back into the red copper pan and turn up the heat.
Step 5: Now, you have to add the egg mixture and stir in some cheddar cheese. But, make sure that you save some cheddar for the final touches.
Step 6: You need to cook on the stove top until the cauliflower edges begin to firm up. Once they do, place the red copper pan in the oven. It is going to take 5-10 minutes for frittata to cook, and you can check out if it is done or not by pressing the cauliflower with your finger. If it is firm at the center, then it’s prepared. It shouldn’t be wet at the center.
Final Touches:
If you have some pickled red onions at home, then you can enjoy this recipe even better. Cut the frittata into wedges and lift it out as a slice of pie.
This recipe is delicious and gets prepared in an hour. It’s a great way to avoid bacon and eggs, which you were eating for past many days. Yes, there are eggs in this recipe, but the taste of eggs is not what you get at the time of eating bacon and eggs. So, when are you going to try out this recipe? I hope soon because this recipe is definitely going to fill your mind with new ideas.
Note: If you don’t have cauliflower at home, then you can use broccoli in place of it. Broccoli works the same way as cauliflower.
