And our bodies are not the only part of ourselves that suffer from stress.
Stress can affect our moods and lead us to experience anxiety, irritability, restlessness, sadness, and affect our ability to focus. In turn, stress can affect changes in our behaviors. We might notice overeating, under-eating, drug or alcohol abuse, angry outbursts, withdrawing socially, and the formation of unhealthy habits.
Thankfully, we do have the ability to manage stress without pricey prescriptions or special equipment. With a little planning and creative thinking, we can detox our bodies from the negativity associated with stress. By seeking a little “me time” and creating a spa in our homes using ingredients and items we already own we can relax and soak away stress. So, give yourself permission to create a spa oasis in your home for the sake of your health and happiness.
However, we do want to add a word of caution. We highly recommend using or installing a shower filter for any home saunas. According to the EPA and many experts, if you live in an area that chlorinates the water, steam from a hot shower will cause you to inhale high levels of chlorine into your lungs. Chlorine, as many of us know, is a toxin and can be especially harmful to people who suffer from conditions, such as: eczema, psoriasis, emphysema, or asthma. Please take necessary precautions to safeguard your health while you relax.
