If you’ve just had a long weekend or season of parties, drinking and eating unhealthy fat and sugar laden food then it’s time to follow a detox diet and get back on track.
If you’re feeling sluggish, or you seem to be bloated and your food feels as though it’s sitting undigested in your stomach then a detox and cleanse could do the trick.
If you have put on a few pounds and need to lose weight then a detox diet can help you kickstart a healthier eating plan and get rid of those toxins that are interfering with your weight loss system.
And, if you think that you’ve eaten too many foods full of preservatives and additives and your liver’s starting to show symptoms of abuse, then it’s time for you to go on a detox program.
Detox is the process of neutralizing and eliminating toxins from the body. Detox plans come in many different forms from detox baths, spa treatments, far infrared saunas and massages to yoga and meditation. But the simplest and the most common perhaps is to go on a detox diet.
Here is a brilliant infographic that explains it all very nicely.
A detox diet is a healthy eating plan that is high in the foods that contain the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants needed for the optimum function of the detox system.
It also involves taking in of high fiber food and pure water and green smoothies that will aid in the elimination of toxins.
It generally suggests a high intake of fresh vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, seeds and lots of fluids, while avoiding caffeine, alcohol, sugar, dairy products, red meat and gluten grains.

Hi Sandy very good article on detoxification. i also liked that you have written about it’s effect on thought process. Detoxification is necessary not only in food but also from digital world as well as work. You have mentioned about meditation too. Simple walking meditation for 10 minutes a day is great for healthy body and mind.
